Wildwood Retreat
Wildwood Retreat hosted by St James Vacation homes
If the ultimate vacation getaway boils down to luxury and location, this impeccably designed craftsman-inspired home has it all: sweeping main lake views, private max dock, and 100 feet of water frontage along the shores of Georgia’s 19,000-acre freshwater paradise, Lake Oconee. Not only is Wildwood Retreat situated on premier lake shoreline, but it’s also tucked into the prestigious gated community of Cuscowilla, home to Georgia’s #1 residential golf course designed by renowned architects, Coore and Crenshaw. Boasting 5 bedrooms and 4 full baths, this newly renovated 2-story lakefront property is as exceptional inside as its surroundings are outside, and it is a perfect location to relax with friends and family.Being just steps from the wide-open waters of Lake Oconee, Wildwood Retreat makes the most of its coveted location. From the moment guests step inside the front door, a wall of windows offers a panoramic view of the sparkling shoreline and private dock. With such compelling scenery, it might be easy to overlook the tastefully decorated living area with a vaulted tongue-and-groove ceiling, gas fireplace surrounded by custom stonework, 55” flatscreen TV, and plush seating. The open-concept floor plan flows to the adjacent gourmet kitchen equipped with stainless-steel appliances, gas stovetop and oven, granite countertops, and a walk-in pantry. Two dining areas offer generous seating for up to 16 (with 3 additional barstools nearby at the oversized island). Just off the kitchen is a large laundry room with new front-load washer and dryer, both being full-sized solutions to the problem of vacation laundry! Around the corner is a full bathroom and an office with a private entrance to a screened patio with gas fireplace.
On the opposite end of the main level is the expansive master suite that showcases a custom tray ceiling, king bed, flatscreen TV, reading nook with bay window, 2 walk-in closets, and ensuite bathroom designed with 2 vanities, standing shower with built-in seating, and soaking tub. A private entrance leads to the terrace level, where guests can have front row seats to lake life and a bird’s-eye view of the fire pit below. There is also a propane grill for use that offers easy food transfer to the kitchen. (Pounders Seafood is about ten minutes north on 44 and is a great option for grill masters.)
Descending the stairs, guests will be delighted to discover that 3 of the remaining 4 bedrooms all come with designer finishes, king beds, waterside views, and ensuite bathrooms. The fourth bedroom – a bunk room detailed with shiplap – will delight kids or kids-at-heart and can comfortably sleep 8 in its 4 double beds. All bedrooms throughout the two levels are decorated with new furniture and carpet and are freshly painted. Anchoring the lower level is the large family room with a wet bar, wall-mounted flatscreen TV, gas fireplace with stonework surround, and a ping pong table that converts to a pool table.. The finished walk-out terrace leads to additional seating and a tiled walkway to the flagstone fire pit that features Adirondack chairs and Green Egg grill station. As the sun sets, this spot beckons fireside chats, s’mores, and requests for drink refills. Nearby is a hammock that doesn’t know a stranger and a private dock. While the boat and boat lift are not available for use, there are boat cleats on the dock so you can secure your boat. Cuscowilla is just minutes away from rental sites such as Fishtale Marina, Young Harris Water Sports, and Oconee Wild Watersports.
If you are curious to check out local life, Harmony Crossing is five minutes away and hosts some of our favorite eateries and boutiques. (Hint: the Cuban crunchy wraps at Lalore Café are out of this world and big enough to share, but you won’t want to.) Further north on Highway 44, you will find Publix, CVS, and several well-known restaurants that serve excellent food in a relaxing atmosphere. We also recommend visiting the historic districts of downtown Eatonton and downtown Greensboro. Both have mom-and-pop cafes, restaurants, and retail stores that are locally owned and operated. Be sure to check out the seasonal events, festivals, and farmers’ markets, too!
** Disclaimer-There is a Vivint camera doorbell on the front and side of the home, as well as cameras on driveway, back and sides of house for security purposes.
