Long Leaf Cottage
Long Leaf Cottage hosted by St James Vacation Homes
Craftsman charm meets thoughtful and contemporary detail in this delightful 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath cottage tucked away in Lake Oconee's gated Cuscowilla community. Nestled beneath a canopy of towering pines and hardwoods, this two-story retreat will delight guests with its open floor plan, designer finishes, private views of the 13th hole on Georgia's only Coore-Crenshaw designed golf course, and walkable access to Lake Oconee.
Guests are welcomed through the front door by shiplap accents and hardwood floors leading to a cozy living area detailed by a coffered wood beam ceiling and anchored by a stone fireplace. Sorry, pets are not allowed. Guests can sit back, relax, and enjoy the show on the flatscreen TV (equipped with Apple TV) or take a few steps out to the screened porch that offers 180-degree vistas of the Cuscowilla golf course and plenty of fresh air. The back deck, accessed from the porch or by the private entrance from the master, beckons guests to take in the natural beauty that defines Lake Country.
The kitchen is generously equipped with granite countertops, plenty of cabinet storage, and a side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, oven with smooth-top range, microwave, dishwasher, and pantry. The dining area comfortably sits six with room for three more on the barstools at the wrap-around countertop. During mild weather, mealtime overflow can spill out onto the porch and deck, both which provide additional tables and chairs. An adjacent laundry room boasts a full-size frontload washer and dryer that put an end to dirty clothes being hauled back home.
The master-on-main occupies its own spacious corner of the cottage, and it greets guests with a plush king bed enveloped by crisp linens, reading nook, and detailed shiplap ceiling. The ensuite bath is equally refined with brushed bronze hardware, a double vanity, soaking tub, and tiled walk-in shower. With this level of comfort, don't be surprised if master suite occupants are the first to bed and the last to wake!
The second level features a spacious guest suite with a queen bed, reading nook, walk-in closet, and a private bath with granite vanity and tiled shower. Down the hall are two additional guest rooms, one with two twin beds (and a trundle) and the other with a timeless two-poster queen bed. A jack-and-jill bathroom is equipped with a double vanity and tub/shower.
The highlight of the second level is the bonus room with its peek-a-boo glass French doors that open to a space that can easily accommodate the whimsy of children's games or more laidback adult conversation on the chaise sectional. Sunlight streams in from the panel of windows and creates a tranquil airy ambiance perfect for relaxing. There is a TV in the bonus room as well (equipped with Apple TV) so kids can watch a movie when the adults watch a game in the living room!
Around the corner (2 minute - 500 yard walk) are the private docks exclusive to our community called The Grove. Nearby boat rentals at Young Harris and Fishtale Marina mean all the fun guests can fit into a getaway on the 19,000 acres of Lake Oconee.
For local life just outside the gates, Harmony Crossing is five minutes away and hosts some of our favorite eateries and boutiques. (Hint: the Cuban crunchy wraps at Lalore Café are out of this world and big enough to share, but you won't want to.) Further north on Highway 44, you will find Publix, CVS, and several well-known restaurants such as Lake Oconee Bistro, Silver Moon, and Café 44 that serve excellent food in a relaxing atmosphere. We also recommend visiting the historic districts of downtown Eatonton and downtown Greensboro. Both have mom-and-pop cafes, restaurants, and retail stores that are locally owned and operated. Be sure to check out the seasonal events, festivals, and farmers' markets, too!
**Note: Cuscowilla golf course, pool, and dining are only available to Cuscowilla Members.
