Serenity Shores

Serenity Shores hosted by St James Vacation Homes

Serenity Shores hosted by St James Vacation Homes
Designed for guests who want big water access but with serene cove ambiance, Serenity Shores is a 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath retreat with sprawling mile-long views of Lake Sinclair, the third largest lake located entirely within the state of Georgia. This 2-level home is full of creature comforts inside and out, and its shoreline setting provides immediate access to fishing, water sports, dreamy sunsets, and nearby local life.
The main level takes advantage of the natural sunlight that filters in through the lake-facing windows that follow the vaulted ceiling. With an open floor plan that effortlessly transitions from kitchen and dining to living area, guests are immediately welcomed by the spacious and airy interior. The kitchen features solid wood cabinetry with plenty of storage areas, granite countertops, hardwood floors, smooth-top stove, built-in oven, microwave, dishwasher, and side-by-side refrigerator/freezer. A central island makes food prep easy and also serves as a convenient buffet. The farmhouse-inspired dining table can seat up to 6, and 2 additional barstools at the island and another 2 at the wraparound counter easily accommodate overflow. The living area is anchored by a cozy fireplace and overhead wall-mounted flatscreen TV, and the oversized sofa and loveseat invite guests to settle in on cool evenings for a fireside movie or two. The master-on-main is an expansive suite with private deck entrance, a plush king bed, work desk, and a generous private bath with walk-in shower and soaking tub. The main level also features a powder room just off the living area, and a laundry room with a full-size washer, dryer, and a second refrigerator for extra perishables.
The second level welcomes guests with two rooms, each with a comfortable king bed, and a shared full-size bath. The top of the staircase opens to provide an aerial view of the activity in the living area and kitchen below, creating a sense of openness while still maintaining privacy for night owls and/or late sleepers overhead.
Without a doubt, the rockstar of the property is the lakeside covered porch. From here, throw some steaks on the grill, watch the parade of boats and skis from the comfort of the rocking chairs, sip your favorite hot beverage while the sun descends, and offer no excuses for napping on the enormous porch swing big enough for an adult (or two, if you cuddle up just right)! Follow the porch steps down to the private dock, where Adirondack chairs and a boat slip wait for visitors.
The irresistible allure of tranquil lake life might keep guests from venturing beyond the driveway, but others may want to explore the surrounding community. For basics and menu planning, Kroger, Publix, and Ingles are all about 15-20 minutes away. If vacation means that the family chef is off duty, try Aubri Lane’s for contemporary southern cuisine with lakeside views. Georgia Bob’s is also a great option for BBQ and some of the best chicken salad around. If you’re on the water, visit The Grill at Crooked Creek Marina, which is conveniently located near our property and provides a dock-n-dine experience.
For those with children, a 15-minute drive separates you from Oconee Springs Park, a family campground and waterpark that features a sandy beach, playground, volleyball court, paddleboats, waterslide, blob, and water trampoline. Outside guests (non-campers) can purchase a daily park pass for endless fun under the sun, and we guarantee that your little ones will be delightfully exhausted at the end of the day.
For true Southern culture, look no further than the largest city on Lake Sinclair. Milledgeville is a trove of history, having served as the state capital of Georgia from 1803-1863 and now as host to Georgia College & State University. Downtown Milledgeville is a 10-block historic district lined with antebellum masterpieces, including the Old Governor’s Mansion that was once occupied overnight by General William T. Sherman in his famous March to the Sea during the Civil War. Milledgeville also boasts Andalusia Farm, home of acclaimed late author, Flannery O’ Connor, who dryly remarked of her hometown, “When in Rome, do as you done in Milledgeville.” Another historic site worth visiting is the Central State Hospital Campus (formerly known as the Georgia State Lunatic, Idiot, and Epileptic Asylum), founded in 1842. At its height, it was the world’s largest mental health facility with 13,000 patients. It is still in operation but has downsized significantly. Visitors can go on a guided trolley tour of the original campus, and the tour guide is a former employee with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Less than 30 minutes away are the towns of Eatonton and Greensboro, home to Sinclair’s twin-separated-by-dam, Lake Oconee. Both of these areas have historic downtown districts, a variety of dining and retail options, and seasonal farmers’ markets, festivals, and events that highlight the easygoing lifestyle of Lake Country.
