Lake Forest

With all the luxury of a lakefront home in a gated community but without the hassle of gate passes and limited parking, Lake Forest is the perfect combination of amenities and convenience. This three-story retreat oozes personality and welcomes guests with a rustic Teddy Roosevelt-inspired charm complimented by modern comfort. Boasting 6 bedrooms (with king beds in all but 2) and 4.5 baths, there’s no shortage of space, and each room has been meticulously furnished to makes guests feel like true VIPs on the shores of Lake Oconee.

Surprises are, quite literally, around every corner, and they start with the first steps into the foyer. To the right, the dining enclave has been delightfully repurposed to host a pool table, electronic dartboard, and details that evoke an old world saloon, complete with a mounted bear hide and Americana decor.

The adjoining great room commands no less attention and immediately draws gazes to the massive lake-facing windows highlighted by a wall-mounted canoe that hearkens to days of fireflies and summer camp. The remaining walls are all accented by shoulder mounts of various deer species, including a moose! An oversized sectional and a solid wood coffee table make a cozy spot for movie night on the flatscreen TV. To accommodate various viewing preferences, each of the six bedrooms is furnished with a flatscreen TV.

The gourmet kitchen provides lakeside panoramic views from its extended bay window and 8-capacity dining table. Nearby, two cowhide barstools wait at the enormous kitchen island that serves as prep station or buffet for a crowd. Cabinets are generously stocked with serving ware, bakeware, cutting boards, and dinnerware. Stainless steel appliances include a stacked double oven, dishwasher, microwave, smooth-top stove with pot filler faucet, French door refrigerator, toaster oven, and two types of coffee makers (Keurig and 12-cup drip). A propane grill is located on the side deck just a few feet away. Down the hallway is a guest half bath and a laundry room with a full-size front load washer and dryer set. For those who need a quiet corner for remote work, an office area is at the end of the hallway and provides a wrap-around desk and office chair.

The master suite occupies the entire west wing and is awash in earthy tones and textures. It offers private access to the upper deck, a king bed, dresser, flatscreen TV, ceiling fan, walk-in closet, and an ensuite bathroom with a rare layout: two separate vanities and two toilets! The centerpiece is the half wall walk-in shower with a rain shower head and handheld. This open concept (doorless) design provides a luxurious spa experience while being surrounded by rugged lodge accents - the best of both worlds!

More awaits upstairs in the loft bedroom accessed by the staircase off the kitchen. With a king bed, a convertible sofa, and a daybed, this oversized room easily sleeps 5 and will be a favorite for young families or kids who want their own space. It features a flatscreen TV, dresser storage, closet, and a whimsical indoor hammock chair swing. A private bathroom includes a step-in tiled shower and single vanity. Being located above the garage means instant soundproofing from the master suite and other guests on the terrace level.

Speaking of terrace level, take the staircase down to discover a finished lake level that’s thoughtfully furnished from top to bottom and includes four guest rooms! The open floor plan of the common area flows seamlessly from the kitchenette (side-by-side fridge, microwave, drink cooler, dishwasher, and ice maker) to a dining area that seats 4 at the table and 2 at the bar. The living area invites the sun-zapped and water-logged to collapse into one of two leather armchairs or the leather sofa. A wall-mounted flatscreen TV is at the ready for rainy days and Netflix.

On the west side of the lower level are two of the four guest rooms, one with a queen bed, private terrace access, sitting area, dresser, flatscreen TV, and a porcupine mascot.  The second room features a king bed, flatscreen TV, and closet. With fewer windows, this would be an ideal place for someone who prefers extra sleep over sunrises. Both rooms share a jack-and-jill full bath complete with a double sink vanity and separate tub/shower with sliding doors.

On the opposite side of the common area are two more bedrooms, one with a king bed, private terrace access, flatscreen TV, dresser, and access to a shared bathroom outfitted with a walk-in tiled shower and single vanity, and a second door leading to the common area. Adjacent to the shared bath is the fourth guest room, which is large enough for two full beds and a sitting area with a dresser and flatscreen TV. This room offers private access to the terrace breezeway, where firewood and outdoor umbrellas can be found.

While the interior of Lake Forest beckons guests to unwind, nothing evokes vacation quite like what awaits right outside the back doors. On both the upper deck and walk-out terrace, plentiful seating is available. From outdoor sectionals and chaise loungers to al fresco dining for four, there’s room for everyone. The stone fire pit is surrounded by Adirondack chairs and becomes a family favorite under the stars. For those who want to be on the water without being in the water, kayaks and a paddle board are on standby and can be enjoyed by one or by a group. At water’s edge is a private dock with plenty of space on the side to tie up a boat . A retractable ladder invites swimmers to take a dip, and parents can sit back in the provided chairs while kids (and kids at heart) create some of their favorite summertime memories. From the dock, listen to the serenade of the nearby bass wind chimes and take in the horizon of glittering waters and blue skies. 

Garage parking is available for two vehicles.  Additional parking is available across the street to park your boat trailer if needed.

With such inspiring natural beauty in every direction, it’s hard to believe that this property is only ten minutes from retails shops and restaurants. Highway 44 is just two right turns from the driveway, and within minutes, visitors can find FishTale Marina with boat rentals and gas pumps; Harmony Crossing (home to a Saturday farmer’s market, cafes, and boutiques); Publix shopping complex; and Lake Oconee Bistro, a local favorite that’s open 7 days a week and features a mouth-watering weekend brunch, oyster bar, and enclosed outdoor seating that overlooks Lake Oconee.
